Becoming a Brownie
Girls become a Brownie when they make their promise
We let them choose when they want to do their promise but it is usually around 4 or 5 weeks after joining just to make sure that they're enjoying their time with us
We ask that girls not only learn the promise but understand what it means to be a Brownie

I promise that I will do my best,
To be true to myself and develop my beliefs,
To serve the Queen and my community,
To help other people
and
To keep the Brownie Guide Law

Wearing uniform for the first time
Before making their promise we ask that girls attend Brownies in their own clothes and not a Brownie uniform, this is to make sure that money isn't wasted on uniform should a girl not take to Brownies and also it then makes their enrolment extra special as they can wear their uniform for the first time
Uniform
Uniform can be purchased from Rawcliffes in Huddersfield or bought from the internet, the good thing is that it costs the same wherever you purchase it from
The basic items that we ask you buy are:
T-shirt or long sleeved T-shirt
or
Brownie Promise
Brownie Guide Law
A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself,
And does a good turn every day.

Trousers, leggings or skort

or

or

Sash

We don't have uniform footwear but we do ask that girls come in sensible shoes such as trainers or school shoes as sometimes we do a lot of running around (please don't come in Crocs or open toed sandles)
There are other uniform items but it is the girls choice as to whether they wear them or not:
Gilet

Hoodie

Hat
